The Medicine Woman and Master Herbalist that is dedicated to breaking generational curses for the Diaspora.

This episode unpacks one of the most persistent fears holding healthcare professionals and holistic practitioners back: the belief that stepping into ancestral medicine means sacrificing financial stability. Rather than dismissing that fear, this conversation breaks it down, revealing the deeper layers tied to identity, security, and belonging. Through grounded, real-world scenarios, it reframes what’s actually possible when you build a structured, root-cause practice. The result is a more expansive view of income, impact, and freedom, one rooted in long-term vision, not short-term fear.
If you’re ready to go deeper into this work, there are two powerful paths depending on where you are in your journey.
If you are someone navigating chronic symptoms and you’re ready to understand your body through a root cause lens, Heal at Home offers a guided, 5-step process to help you rebuild your health from the inside out. This is for those who are done managing symptoms and ready to address what’s actually driving them. You don’t have to figure this out alone—you can be supported every step of the way.
If you are a practitioner—doctor, nurse, or advanced holistic provider—who knows there is a deeper way to practice, AHC (Ancestral Herbalist Certification) is where you develop true mastery in root cause medicine. This is about building a private practice that reflects your values while creating real impact, freedom, and wealth. It’s a rigorous, selective program designed for those ready to lead at a higher level.

Welcome back to Heal at Home with Anuuma Earth. If you’re a woman of color in healthcare or an advanced holistic practitioner, this is the episode for you today.
We’re going to be talking about the fear that keeps more women stuck in the system than anything else. It’s the fear that I can’t afford to take a pay cut. So let’s put it on the table and talk about it.
The biggest fear that I hear from doctors, nurses, NPs, PAs, therapists, and advanced practitioners is not whether ancestral medicine or ancestral herbalism works. You already know medication and drugs are not the solution. You already know there is something missing in the way we are doing healthcare.
The fear you actually have is: if I go all in on this, am I going to blow up my entire life and end up broke? I feel you.
You’re probably thinking things like: I worked too hard for this license to be out here struggling. My family depends on this income. I can’t go backwards financially to move forward spiritually.
And a lot of this is valid. Because when you look around, a lot of what is being sold as holistic does look like chaos. People are quitting their jobs with no plan. They’re undercharging. They’re hustling all day online, and they’re burnt out in a different outfit.
So your nervous system looks at that and says, absolutely not. I’ll stay where I am a little bit longer. Maybe next year. Maybe when I have more saved.
Meanwhile, every month you stay in a model that is burning you out and breaking your body down. I encounter so many doctors who are sick themselves, overwhelmed, and unable to care for their own families because of the system they’re in.
So the real question isn’t just: can an ancestral medicine practice compete with my salary?
The deeper questions are:
Can I build this without destroying my finances?
Can I do this without burning out my nervous system again?
Can I trust myself to execute a real plan?
Because money is the surface story. Underneath, there’s more.
The first fear is loss of identity. Your title is not just a job—it’s who you are. You worked for it. You sacrificed for it. So when you consider building your own practice, your mind hears: who am I if I’m not this?
And for many women of color, your value has been tied to how much you do for others. So building something centered around you can feel selfish.
The second fear is loss of predictability. You know when your paycheck hits. You know the system. That structure creates safety. So stepping outside of it feels like losing stability and respect.
The third fear is social isolation. You don’t want to be the “weird one” in your field. You don’t want to lose connection or community.
The fourth fear is starting from zero. But you’re not starting from zero. You have years of experience, pattern recognition, and trust built already. You’re starting from experience—just in a new model.
So let’s talk about the math.
For a holistic practitioner making $80k–$120k:
Three clients a month at $3k = $108k/year
Three clients at $5k = $180k/year
For a nurse or NP making $120k–$180k:
Two clients/month at $4k = $96k/year
Three clients/month at $5k = $180k/year
For a physician making $300k–$400k:
Four clients/month at $8k = $384k/year
Five clients/month = $480k/year
This is about trading volume for depth.
You don’t do this overnight. You stack it:
Year one: build slowly while working
Year two: stabilize and reduce hours
Year three: your practice can fully support you
This is a 1–5 year shift, not a 90-day transformation.
You’re building something real. Something sustainable. Something generational.
The question becomes: who do you want to be five years from now?
One path requires a painful transition.
The other requires a painful forever.
If you’re done letting money fears keep you stuck, you don’t need more information—you need a plan.
